NAUGATUCK: Orange Police Officer Mary Bernegger and her narcotics K-9 Trent assisted the Naugatuck Police Department with a search and seizure warrant in their town.
The Naugatuck Police officers were investigating drug sales occurring from within a private residence, Orange police said.
The police suspected one of the residents of selling both prescription and illegal narcotics in and around the residence, and also at a school that backs up to the suspects’ property, Orange police said.
The officers performed the search during the daytime hours on Dec. 16 to ensure that a nine-year old autistic child who resided with the suspects would not be present when officers arrived, police said.
A representative from the Department of Children and Families was on-scene during the incident to manage the situation regarding the juvenile.
Officers seized a large quantity of drugs and money during the raid, along with drug paraphernalia, a facsimile firearm, and a machete, Orange police said.
Police arrested two adults, one regarding the drug sales and the other for charges related to the incident, police said.
