CALIFORNIA: Merced police seized more than a pound of suspected methamphetamine, another pound of marijuana and two loaded firearms from a man described as a known gang member.
Jorge Martinez, 29, who was wanted on two felony arrest warrants, was taken into custody just after 11 p.m. Friday by Merced police in the 2600 block of North Highway 59, the Police Department said in a news release.
Officers were searching for Martinez when he was seen in that area and stopped. Police found a loaded .38-caliber revolver in his pants pocket and a loaded .22-caliber semi-automatic handgun inside a clothing bag he was carrying, according to a police statement.
Investigators said they found the suspected drugs inside the bags Martinez was carrying, along with digital scales, plastic packaging material, ammunition and metal knuckles.
Martinez was booked at the Merced County jail on suspicion of being a felon in possession of loaded firearms and ammunition, sales and possession of narcotics, possession of metal knuckles, gang enhancements and felony warrants, according to police.
