FLORIDA: According to a Florida Chamber of Commerce report on employment and wage salaries by occupation in Leon County, the average hourly wage in Tallahassee was $19.93 in 2013 compared to the national hourly average of $22.33.

Under the Fair Labor Standards Act to Domestic Service, President Barack Obama’s proposed rule raises the minimum salary threshold to $50,440 annually or $970 per week for employees qualified to receive overtime wages. That more than doubles the current threshold of $23,660.Obama is expected to hold a press conference today explaining the merits for increasing the outdated 1975 rule.
