LONDON: U.S. stocks closed with losses for the third consecutive session, as weak earnings from companies such as Caterpillar and 3M weighed on sentiment. The S&P 500 SPX, -0.57% fell 12 points, or 0.6%, to 2,102.15. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, -0.49% dropped 25.36 points, or 0.5%, to 5,146.41. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.67% declined 119.09 points, or 0.7%, to 17,731.95, falling below its 200-day moving average – a key technical level.
