LONDON: U.S. stock futures edged higher early Monday, as Wall Street tried to build on the prior week’s rally and joined European equities in shrugging off downbeat Chinese economic data.
S&P 500 futures ESU5, +0.15% rose 4.30 points, or 0.2%, to 1,964.50, while Dow Jones Industrial Average futures YMU5, +0.04% tacked on 19 points, or 0.1%, to 16,455. Nasdaq 100 futures NQU5, +0.20% added 9.70 points, or 0.2%, to 4,335.
Last week, the S&P 500 SPX, +0.45% and Dow DJIA, +0.63% gained 2.1% and 2%, respectively, as investors looked ahead to a crucial two-day meeting of Federal Reserve policy makers that starts Wednesday. The S&P, down 4.8% for the year as of Friday, has alternated between weekly gains and losses for 10 straight weeks.
