USAID appreciates NAB for timely action on complaints

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of the office of Inspector General, (OIG) USAID headed by Daniel Altman, Assistant Inspector General (Investigations) met with Director General (Operations) NAB at NAB Headquarters.

Director General (Operations) NAB welcomed the delegation and said that NAB under the dynamic leadership of Justice ® Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB absolutely committed to eradicate corruption from Pakistan and devised a comprehensive anti-corruption strategy for “Accountability for All” through Awareness, Prevention and Enforcement policy across the board in accordance with law. He said that NAB gives immense importance to its collaboration with International Organizations including the USAID.

He further added that NAB is actively collaborating in the fields of Training and Operational activities with all the International Organizations i.e. USAID, UNODC, National Crime Agency (NCA), UK, European Union and Australian Federal Police etc.

Director General (Operations) NAB emphasized the need of international cooperation for effective investigation of cases pertaining to money laundering and transnational crimes, followed by repatriation of proceed of crimes and stressed the need of technical support and assistance from international organizations for further cooperation in conduct of investigations of white collar crimes by using modern and scientific techniques.

Daniel Altman, Assistant Inspector General (Investigations) USAID appreciated the performance of NAB under the dynamic leadership of Justice ® Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB and highlighted the salient features of strong relationship between the two organizations. He further lauded the effective and timely action of NAB on complaints referred by USAID in its ongoing funded projects in Pakistan by NAB especially praised the efforts of NAB in successful completion of a case titled “Sate Vs Saleem Baz Khan and Others” initiated on the complaint of USAID. The investigation into the said case has been completed and reference has been filed in the Accountability Court Peshawar. The USAID awarded the merit certificates to NAB officers for their hard work and cooperation with the office of Inspector General, (OIG) USAID on the directions of Honorable Justice Mr. Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB.
