USAID team trains Customs top brass on WeBoc

LAHORE: USAID top official visited Model Customs House Lahore in order to train the top officials of Customs on newly-introduced Web-Based One Customs (WeBoc) system, a computerised customs clearance system.

Sources said that Customs officials have been facing many troubles in fully understanding the WeBoc system which has been introduced replacing the old system.

The customs officials have been losing billions of rupees revenue due to the non-operational WeBoc for the last eight months at the Wagha Border. Similarly the customs officials have not been able to fully utilise the computerised customs clearance system, putting the importers and agents in extreme trouble.

“Sole purpose of the visit of USAID team to Customs House Lahore was to train and educate the top officials on WeBoc,” the source stated.

The sources informed that the USAID delegates consisting of WeBoc experts delivered two hour long training to the top customs officials including Chief Collector Customs Lutfullah Virk, Collector of Customs (Preventive) Junaid Akram, Collector Customs (Appraisement) Lahore Zeba Hai Azhar and other customs officials.
