KARACHI: The Directorate General of Customs Valuation has determined the values of porcelain insulator/bushing for power transformers through Valuation Ruling 729/2015.

As per the details, Emco Industries Limited filed a petition to re-determine the values of porcelain insulator/bushing for power transformers to correctly reflect the international prices.

The representatives of Emco Industries Limited stated that the porcelain insulators were covered under the PCT Code 8546.2000, while some clearance has been made under the Code 8504.9020, which pertains to bushing for power transformers.

They also criticised the certain elements which were involved in under-invoicing and misuse of classification, creating problems for their business.

Therefore, the Valuation Department carried out an exercise on their request and the values were re-determined.

Now, according to the new valuation ruling, bushing for power transformer of China that comes under the PCT Code 8504.9020 and electrical porcelain disc insulator of China under PCT Code 8546.2000 will be assessed to duty/taxes at $2.0 per kg. Electrical porcelain pin insulator of China under PCT Code 8546.2000 will be assessed to duty and taxes at $7.0 per kg.
