‘Various goods pending for auction while their RPs being revised as per condition’

SIALKOT: Collector Model Customs Collectorate Sialkot Ahmed Rauf said different items worth Rs4.03million are pending for auction while their RPs being revised as per items’ physical conditions. The collectorate has stopped exports made to tariff area without Goods Declaration (GDs).

This was stated by Collector Customs Model Collectorate (MCC) Sialkot (Samberial) while talking to Customs Today during an exclusive interview.

He said the collectorate is revising RPs of goods i.e. Rs1.01million worth electronic items which comprise LEDs, ACs, DVE home systems and foreign origin fabric valued at Rs0.94million, surgical goods priced at Rs0.68million, supports wears (returned goods) worth Rs0.53million, printing ink tuners valued Rs0.46million and tyres worth Rs0.41million.
Telling details of the Anti-Smuggling Organization of Sialkot’s performance during the 1st-Quarter (July to September) Financial Year (FY) 2016-17 and FY17-18, he said that, during 1st-Q FY16-17, the ASO Sialkot registered a total of 11 cases worth Rs54.536million whereas the ASO registered 13 cases amounting to Rs69.536million during 1st-Q FY17-18. During the 1st-Quarter of FY1718, the ASO Sialkot registered smuggling cases with 18% increase against the same period of corresponding FY16-17.
The collector told CT that, from the past 2013 to 2017 years, number of 29,393 pending cases of rebate claims need to be resolved. The total value of pending rebate claims is Rs4603.48million. He further said that 24 cases of rebate refund claims worth 2.85million are pending from 2013, 568 cases are pending worth Rs34.67million from 2014, 5,501 are pending valued at Rs308.42million from 2015 and pending cases of rebate claims are 26,892 amounting to Rs2502.52million from 2016 and 26,408 cases are pending from 2017 amounting to Rs1755.01million.
The collector said the Customs Collectorate Sialkot has been assigned revenue collection targets of all duties and taxes for Financial Year 2017-18 whereas collectorate has been allocated Rs -2116.12million as Customs Duty, Rs328.75million of Sales Tax and Rs135.21million as Withholding Tax (WHT) for Financial Year 2017-18.

The collectorate has been earmarked revenue target for First-Quarter (July to September) FY17-18 amounting to Rs.-1129.83million as Customs Duty (CD) whereas Rs69.05million of Sales Tax (ST) and Rs30.30.17million as Withholding Tax (WHT).
Collector told CT that Samberial (Sialkot) Collectorate has been allocated revenue target for 2nd-Quarter (October to December) FY17-18. The collectorate has been assigned Rs1256.90million of CD, Rs66.49million as ST while it has been earmarked target of Rs31.85million of WHT for 2nd-Quarter FY17-18.
The collector further told CT that the collectorate has been earmarked revenue target for 3rd-Quarter (January to March) FY17-18 amounting to Rs.-430.50million of CD whereas assigned Rs97.36million as ST and the Customs Collectorate Sialkot has been allocated Rs38.52million of WHT.
Abdul Rauf said the Collectorate of Sialkot has been assigned revenue target of Rs289.38million of CD, Rs95.86million as ST and Rs34.66million as WHT for the 4th-Quarter (April to June) FY17-18.
Analyzing the revenue during July to September FY17-18, he said that, during the 1st-Quarter, the Sialkot Collectorate generated Rs79.479million of Customs Duty (CD) and did Rs84.875million as Sales Tax (ST) whereas it received Rs36.510million as Withholding Tax (WHT).
