Various smuggling items confiscated by Customs Preventive Sukkur during previous week

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Customs Preventive Sukkur, has taken into possession foreign origin 400 bags, 10,000 kg of Googerd, 90 sulphur bentonite, 165 bags of kali sop sulphate of potash granule, 40 bags of nutria gold ldro soluble microcristallino NPK and a truck container, model 1990, worth Rs04.3 along the duties and taxes during an action at Quetta-Shikarpur Road near Kundan Rest House Shikarpur during the last week of September 2017-18.

Following direction of Model Customs House Hyderabad Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq, the ASO team is carrying out various operations in the region to frustrate the smuggling attempts.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Hyderabad Akhlaq Ahmad Khattak received a tip-off regarding the smuggling attempt. He formed an ASO team comprising In-charge, Inspectors, Sepoys, Driver and other staff. The ASO team intercepted a vehicle and recovered different foreign origin abovementioned smuggling items.

Before the recovery of goods, the officials asked the driver for producing documents regarding the legal import of the items, but he could not prove anything lawful. The team seized the goods under the Customs Act- 1969.

A case has been registered against the accused. The case has been sent to the customs adjudication for further legal action. The ASO made a seizure report and deposited the items and truck into Sukkur State Warehouse.

Talking With Customs Today, Customs Additional Collector Aamer Nawaz Hamid said the Hyderabad Customs showed brilliant performance regarding the anti-smuggling actions.
