BRENT: June will be the best month for skygazing this summer according to NASA. Throughout the month Venus and Jupiter will be close enough to be seen with the naked eye.
Every night the separation of the two planets will shrink starting at about 20 degrees apart. By the end of June the planets will only be two degrees apart.
On June 19 a crescent moon joins the Jupiter and Venus show. The three planets will all appear together in an isosceles triangle at sunset.
On the first day of summer, June 21, Slooh.com, an observatory in the Canary Islands will cover the Summer Solstice. Watch live starting at noon when the Sun reaches its highest point in the Northern Hemisphere.
By June 30 Venus and Jupiter will be about a pinky fingers width apart, only one-third of a degree.
Also in June, turn to the south to see Saturn and its rings rise around 6 p.m. EDT. The planet will appear bright all month long.
