Videocon introduces its budget smartphone Z55 in India

NEW DELHI: Videocon Mobiles has launched its budget smartphone Z55 in the Indian smartphone market with a price tag of Rs. 6,490. It will be available in Black/ White, and White/ Chrome color variants, exclusively on Flipkart.  The company has reported that their Z55 smartphone is a ‘Make in India’ initiative, as it is designed in India.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Jerold Pereira, CEO, Videocon Mobile Phones said, “Videocon Mobiles understands the pulse of new-age consumers hailing from metro as well as Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The new Z55 DASH is designed to meet the needs of these dynamic consumers and their changing needs. It is the testament of Videocon’s domestic manufacturing excellence and consumer insight. A combination of great functionality and design, Z55 DASH offers affordability and stylishness along with a smooth, faster and an elevated user experience. By manufacturing the handsets locally, Videocon Mobile Phones endeavours to offer affordability and stylishness to Indian consumers and bring in a unique and never before seen mobile experience in Indian mobile market.”

The Z55 Dash is a dual-sim mobile phone handset based on Android 4.4 KitKat and powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core processor coupled with a 1GB of RAM. Videocon has provided an 8GB of onboard storage, which is expandable up to 32GB by using a microSD card.

The device is fronted with a 5-inch 720p HD IPS display with Dragontrail X-Glass protection. It also features a 5-megapixel front facing camera placed above the display panel, meanwhile, the back panel boasts an 8-megapixel primary picture capturing tool with LED flash, over the leaf.

It is also bundled with a 2200mAh of battery and includes connectivity options like Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS, and 3G.

It comes preloaded with V-Safe app, which is designed for emergency purposes to contact family and friends, and also comes with a 90-day free subscription to the V-Secure antivirus app.
