DA NANG: The central city’s market watch agency seized 252 bottles of brandy being smuggled on board a bus from HCM City to Da Nang yesterday.
Deputy Head of a market watch team under the city’s market watch agency, Nguyen Thuc said the brandy labelled Ballantine’s, was sent by an unknown consigner from HCM City for sale in Da Nang city.
According to the city market watch, the bus driver could not provide documents or invoices verifying the brandy.
The brandy is estimated to be worth over VND200 million (nearly US$9,000).
Last year, the agency also discovered around 7,300 bottles of fake alcohol at a downtown shop in an inspection.
The case is still under investigation.
