HANOI: Customs officers in Ho Chi Minh City have discovered 94 handguns smuggled into Vietnam at the local airport.
The Czech-made guns, together with 472 empty magazines, were flown into Vietnam on a flight from Turkey, a representative of the Tan Son Nhat Airport Customs Office told Thanh Nien.
He believed this to be the larges arms smuggling incident in Vietnam.
The Customs Office has not revealed any information related the sender and receiver of the consignment. It said it is cooperating with the police to investigate further.
