HCM CITY: Authorities found a large amount of weapons for military use on a flight from Turkey to HCM City during a surprise inspection yesterday afternoon.
The discovery of weapons was the result of work by a joint force from the Tan Son Nhat International Airport’s Customs, HCM City Customs and the Ministry of Public Security’s Department of Economic Security (A85), along with authorities.
It is reported that the weapons had been illegally imported into Viet Nam through the airport from the Czech Republic. The weapons, which were well hidden, included four short guns and 745 unused cartridge belts.
According to the airport’s customs officials, the case was extremely serious, as it affects Viet Nam’s national security and social order.
HCM City’s Customs and the A85 Department are working together to continue to investigate the incident.
