HANOI: The government has granted a license to Vietnamese-owned Globaltrans Air, allowing it to operate “general aviation” activities which include charter services.
Under the license, Globaltrans will run various commercial and civil flying operations, but cannot have scheduled passenger services.
The company, which was established in July last year with a registered capital of VND100 billion (US$4.56 million), is the fourth commercial airline of its kind to be licensed in Vietnam, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
Globaltrans Air bought two twin-turboprop aircraft King Air B200 from American producer Beechcraft, news website Saigon Times reported.
Previously, similar licenses were issued for Vietnam Air Services Company, Vietnam Helicopter Corporation and Hai Au Aviation.
Vietnamese laws define “general aviation” activities as flying operations in the sectors of industry, agriculture, forestry, fishery and others, and for the purpose of search and rescue, scientific research, flight training, and other civil flying operations.
