HANOI: Vietnam’s revenue from mobile phones and spare parts reached up to US$17 billion in the first half of 2016, a year-on-year surge of 16%. The shipments accounted for the 20.7% of Vietnam’s total export revenue, which reached more than $82 billion in the same period, posting a 5.7 percent increase year-on-year.
Garment ranked 2nd with nearly $11 billion, up 6.4% over last year. Computers, electronics and parts ranked 3rd with nearly $7.9 billion, followed by shoes with $6.3 billion and wood and wood products with $3.2 billion.
Exports of other commodities, which contributed significantly to total export value two years ago, have seen a sharp decline. Crude oil export gained more than $1.1 billion, down by nearly 47% over last year. Export of cameras and parts earned the same amount, a year-on-year decrease of nearly 7%.
