Vietnam promotes Information security in 2015

HCM CITY: The annual “Viet Nam Information Security Day” will begin tomorrow in the face of more and more cyber-attacks aimed at large corporations worldwide. These attacks threaten business operations and company assets but also security and national sovereignty.

The eighth edition of the event will kick off with the national competition “Students and Information Security” with 42 teams from 25 universities and institutes around the country participating.

The event, which will last till December 1, is an annual event held under the patronage of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC).

This year’s event is organised by the Viet Nam Information Security Association (VNISA), the Information Security Department and the MIC’s Viet Nam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCERT) and the Information and Technology Department under the Ministry of Defence.

International conferences, the main activity of the event this year, will be held on November 19 in HCM City and on December 1 in Ha Noi with the theme of “Serious destruction trend from modern network attacks”.

At the conferences, VNISA will announce the results of the Viet Nam Information Security Index in 2015. MIC’s Information Security Department will announce new State management policies on information security sector as the country’s National Assembly is going to pass the Law on Information Security.

MIC leaders will also announce the year’s information security message including comments on Viet Nam’s and the world’s information security situation, instruction and orientation for the development of IT in general and information security in particular.

There will be also reports of big IT companies and corporations in the world such as Google, Microsoft, CISCO, IBM, FireEye, CheckPoint (Israel) and NP Core (South Korea), which will share experiences, solutions and tools to ensure information security.

Other activities include training courses on information security with the theme of “Forensics and Pentest Information systems” and awards for high-quality information security products in 2015.
