HANOI: In the first quarter (Q1) of 2016, Vietnam spent $10.7 billion on imports from China, accounting for around 28 percent of Vietnam’s total import revenue, according to Vietnam Customs on Tuesday.
During the period, China was the top supplier to Vietnam with such items as machines, equipments, spare parts, garment, textile materials, cell phones and accessories, computers and accessories, and fabrics among others, local media quoted the Vietnam Customs as saying.
In the first quarter, Vietnam exported goods worth $4.2 billion to China.
During the period, the South Korea and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) ranked second and third among major exporters to Vietnam with respective revenue of $6.8 billion and $5.3 billion.
Also according to the Vietnam Customs, in the first quarter, Vietnam’s total trade revenue with foreign partners hit over $76.2 billion. The country’s export revenue reached $38.77 billion and import revenue was $37.43 billion.
