NEW DELHI: The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, the company’s top-end variant of its flagship handset, was unveiled last month and hit shelves in several countries including India last week. The handset is already receiving a firmware update that brings several changes, including stability and performance improvements, and new features.

A Vietnamese gold-plating shop, Karalux Shop is offering gold-plated versions of the two latest flagship phones from Samsung, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Since we live in an age where even the most expensive of smartphones are commonly used, Gold-plated phones are usually purchased by those who wish to distinguish themselves from the crowd.

The two devices will join the list of 24K gold plated smartphones in the company. The Corning Gorilla Glass 4 glass panels in the front and the back of the phones will remain as they are. Whereas the metallic frame which joins the two panels will be replaced by a gold-plating. The metal rim along the rim of the camera will also be subject to the same.

The Karalux Shop has said that the whole process of gold plating the smartphones takes three hours. During this, they go through 10 different stages. Aside from one layer, the smartphone is also added with another nano layer which prevents corrosion of the gold-plating. The extra 24K gold plating  on the Galaxy S6 will cost one an additional $400 (Rs.24, 949 approximately). The device is selling for Rs.49,900 in India.
