HANOI: Vietnam’s annual shrimp exports are set to teach about $3 billion this year, which would mean a drop of $1bn from 2014, reports Vietnam Plus.
The predicted drop in export revenue is attributed to falling shrimp prices, which have dropped by about 30% since mid-2014.
According to secretary general of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exports and Producers Truong Ding Hoe, who spoke at a meeting with the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Nov. 30 tor review 2015 exports, 2016 seems to be more promising due to new trade agreements.
He also said, however, that Vietnam may face competitive pressure from other countries in the region, particularly Indonesia.
