PESHAWAR: The people from different villages of Peshawar have warned of sit-in protest against Wapda against the prolonged power outages.

The villagers, during a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, said that they regularly pay power bills but they have to bear over 20-hour loadshedding daily. They warned the people would remove power meters and present them to the Pesco chief if the problem was not properly addressed.

The villagers said Surizai, Mera Surizai, Musazai, Arbab Landi, Hazarkhwani and Bazidkhel were the areas the worst affected by the excessive loadshedding. Their leader alleged that state minister for water and power Abid Sher Ali instructed Pesco to keep electric supply to Peshawar suspended for as many hours as possible over his hostility towards the PTI government in the province.

Other villagers said the federal government was responsible for not taking action against power thieves. They said the prolonged outages had caused water shortage in residential areas.
