VISAKAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam Customs has seen low revenue collections during current fiscal year due to less volume of imports and devastation caused by cyclone Hudhud which collectively and marginally affected the revenue collection.
The zone, with jurisdiction over ports of Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Gangavaram and Krishnapatnam, had netted a revenue of Rs.6,543 crore during 2013-14. As on December 31, 2014, the zone could collect a revenue of Rs.4,808 crore.
CONCOR Director (International Marketing & Operations) Yash Vardhan reiterated that Customs and other government agencies and various stakeholders had a vital role in the facilitation of international trade.
Customs Commissioner C. Rajendiran asked the stakeholders to make use of 24×7 customs clearance operations.
He said representatives from trade could meet senior officers at the Customs House on Wednesdays without prior appointment.
