Vodafone India launches of 4G services in Kolkata

KOLKATA: Vodafone India announced the launch of 4G services in Kolkata Monday.  The company will roll out 4G in four phases in the city, said Vodafone India’s business head (Kolkata & WB), Anand Sahai at a press meet. Vodafone India will offer free upgrades to 4G customers in the city with high-speed 4G SIMs.

India’s second largest carrier announced an array of data packs, starting with a 150 MB base sachet variant priced at Rs 42 and a 25 GB bonanza 4G pack for Rs 2049. Vodafone 4G customers can avail of global roaming services in Germany, UK, Romania, Spain and the Netherlands.

The company will offer 100% extra data for all 4G RED customers in Kolkata for three months. Vodafone India COO Naveen Chopra said the company had “invested Rs 986 crore in West Bengal, including Kolkata circles in 2015-16 so far, a sizeable chunk of which is in rolling out 4G in Kolkata.

Finland’s Nokia has supplied network gear for the Kolkata 4G rollout, said Chopra. Vodafone India has already rolled out 4G services in Kerala and Mysore, and the next wave of launches will happen in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
