Vodafone Portugal launches The QyouU’s linear channel

LISBON: Vodafone Portugal has launched The QyouU’s linear channel on its IPTV service, Vodafone TV. The service will air to almost 400,000 subscribers across the country. The launch marks The Qyou’s entry into the Portuguese market.

The boom in consumer appetite for online video content is undeniable – in Portugal, more than 40% of consumers watch online video several times a day (Statista).

“The world of online video is not just popular amongst Millennials; as a content provider we see a demand for it right across all demographics of our customer base,” said Antonio Margato, consumer marketing dDirector for Vodafone Portugal.

“We continually strive to ensure that we are evolving our service offerings in line with the tastes and preferences of today’s consumers and this is why we have chosen to include The QYOU on Vodafone TV. We believe that successful providers must look to the future and start to bring the best of web content to TV subscribers in an easy-to-access format.”

The QYOU’s channel is unique, giving Pay-TV subscribers across the world access to a carefully curated and presented line-up of internet content, which they can watch on their TV sets. These short-form, bite-size videos are highly shareable and respond to consumer desire for a more social approach to TV.

Scott Ehrlich, CEO of The Qyou commented: “Portugal is renowned in the industry for being home to a really vibrant and creative online video community. Vodafone Portugal’s decision to put our channel on their TV platform is a recognition of how deep the fan-base is for this type of content, and we’re thrilled to be part of the innovative service they are delivering to their subscribers.”
