PARIS: Volkswagen has introduced its new Golf GTI Clubsport a week ahead of Europe’s largest gathering-of-the-VWs, Wörthersee. Set to remain a show car for the near future, the GTI Clubsport was built to mark the 40th anniversary of the iconic hot hatchback and will eventually be offered in Europe sometime in 2016.

The GTI Clubsport is powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the standard car boosted to 261 horsepower, 41 horsepower more than the U.S.-spec car with Performance Package. An overboost function will also enable the engine to produce an extra 10 horsepower for short periods of time.

More information, along with live photos, should become available following its debut at Wörthersee later this month.
