LAHORE: The Land Freight Unit (LFU) of the Pakistan Customs at Wagah border generated Rs 632 million in wake of duty/taxes only on the import of soya bean during the first ten months of the fiscal year 2015-16.
According to the details, Pakistan imported a huge quantity of soya bean from India through Wagah border. It imported soya bean worth Rs 11.336 billion during the same corresponding period of last year 2014-15 when collection of duty/tax stood at Rs 1.624 billion.
It is pertinent to mention here that soya bean crop in Pakistan is not much famous but it’s demand in local market has increased. To meet the Pakistani needs, India is a nearest market to import soya bean.
