ISLAMABAD: The World Bank Country Director, Patchamuthu Illangovan called on Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar here.
Illangovan expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the World Bank President and said Dr. Jim Yong Kim was highly impressed by the progress made by Pakistan in terms of economic development during the last two years. He said that Dr. Kim has asked the World Bank Country Office in Pakistan to work closely with the Government for measures aimed at enhancing growth and increasing the ease of doing business. He said the World Bank President had noted with appreciation the way cooperative federalism works in Pakistan. The World Bank team led by Dr. Kim had very useful interaction with the Federal and Provincial authorities and the visit was regarded by the Bank as very successful.
The Minister also discussed with the Country Director, the initiatives for improving nutrition and promoting alternate energy who reiterated the commitment of the World Bank to finance these initiatives.
Minister Dar also exchanged views with Illongovan regarding several ongoing Projects being financed by World Bank.
