KARACHI: The Web Based One Customs (WeBOC) automated system is about to facilitate the importers by developing paper-less system with accuracy measures.

Addressing on the occasion, the director said that for having crystal clear facilitation for importers, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced Form I, which is being mandatory for the importers in their trade. He also briefed the participants about the newly launched I Form in import cases while giving a presentation on it.

“Before introducing such facilitation, the importers were facing direct interface with commercial banks not available; opportunities for fraud and forgery; lack of monitoring and control; duplicate payment against a single consignment through banking channel on photo copies of Bill of Ladings (BLs) and goods declarations (GDs); payment of import through informal channels (open account) and mis-declaration of value to customs by not declaring mode of payment i.e. L/C, contract etc”, he added.

Director Qureshi further said that the main features of introducing Form I shall be exclusively issued through the WeBOC system adding that the manual issuance will be stopped with effect from a cut-off date to be notified by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

He further informed that the BDA amount in the system at the time of import payment will be mandatory to show by authorised dealers.
