WeBOC modules: Youswani directs timely upgradation

KARACHI: Project Director of the Directorate of Reforms and Automation, Majid Youswani has directed the entire team of the directorate to ensure the early upgradation of the remaining modules in WeBOC, Web Based One Customs computerised system.

Sources in the Directorate of Reforms and Automation informed Customs Today that the upgradation of some modules including gifts and samples, abatement of Section 27, transit trade and others are not completed. However, Federal Board of Revenue had issued clear directives to the officers concerned of the directorate to complete the upgradation process by the end of the year 2013.

Sources further told this scribe that the pathetic performance of PRAL department was one of the impediments in upgradation of the remaining modules in WeBOC, as the team of PRAL was not conducting the timely deployment and development of the software.

When contacted, one of the senior officers in PRAL said that the shortage of staffers in the department was creating hindrance in the upgradation of the remaining modules of WeBOC.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Chief of the Directorate of Reforms and Automation (R&A), Rubina Athar has recently conducted several meetings with the officers of the Directorates of R&A and the Transit Trade and took through briefing regarding the ongoing developments in connection with the upgradation of the modules in WeBOC, computerised system.
