Weekly inflation down by 0.36%

ISLAMABAD: The weekly inflation, measured by the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) has decreased by 0.36 per cent during the week ended November 26.

The inflation measured through the SPI covers the price trend of 53 commodities in a survey of markets in 17 cities. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data, the prices of 13 items decreased and 29 goods’ cost remained unchanged during the period under review. However, price of only 11 commodities have gone up. Wheat price has increased to Rs351 from Rs347 per 10 kg. LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs 3 to Rs1149 per 11 kg. Prices of other commodities including pulses, cooking oil, beef and wheat flour have recorded a minor increase of around Rs1 per kg.

According to the PBS figures, SPI inflation has gone down by 0.37 percent for each of the groups, low-income groups (earning up to Rs8000 per month), (Rs8001-12000), (Rs12001-18000) and Rs (18001-35000). SPI inflation has reduced by 0.33 percent for the higher income group (above Rs35000 per month).
