BEIJING: Chinese messaging service Weibo reported net revenues of USD 124.7 million for the third quarter of 2015, up 48 percent from USD 84.1 million for the same period of 2014. This exceeded the company’s third-quarter guidance with revenue between USD 120 million and USD 123 million.
Advertising and marketing revenue for the third quarter of 2015 reached USD 105.9 million, up from USD 65.4 million in the year-earlier period. Weibo VAS revenue for the third quarter of 2015 reached USD 18.9 million, compared to USD 18.8 million for the same period last year.
Income from operations for the third quarter of 2015 amounted to USD 13.9 million, compared to a loss from operations of USD 7.8 million for the third quarter of 2014. Net income for the third quarter of 2015 was USD 14.5 million, or net income per share of USD 0.07, compared to a net loss of USD 6.7 million in the third quarter of 2014, or net loss per share of USD 0.03.
At 30 September 2015, Weibo’s cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments totaled USD 353.3 million. For the three months ending 30 September 2015, cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments increased by USD 16.2 million. For the third quarter of 2015, capital expenditures totaled USD 0.6 million.
Monthly active users reached 222 million in September, up 33 percent year-on-year. Mobile monthly active users represented 85 percent of total monthly active users in September this year. Daily active users reached 100 million on average for September 2015, up 30 percent year-on-year. For the fourth quarter of 2015, Weibo estimates its net revenues to be between USD 146 million and USD 149 million.
