NEW DELHI: WhatsApp has reportedly stopped the voice calling feature shortly after releasing it to select users and allowing them to pass on the feature to friends by making a WhatsApp call.

It was a newer version compared to the one in the Android Play store, which is called version 2.11.528.

However, a few hour after users started getting the calling feature, the process to get it stopped working. While there was some doubt on what really happened, now it is certain that WhatsApp stopped the whole show. In fact, the company not only stopped users from enabling calling feature in their app but also removed the Version 531 from their website.

Currently, the website is distributing Version 527, which is even older than the one available in the Play store.

So what does that mean for users? It seems that people who got the WhatsApp calling feature enabled and are now running Version 531 on their phones are guinea pigs. They are the beta testers. WhatsApp will probably monitor how they use the calling feature, will figure out the bugs that are in the app and will update it accordingly before putting the Version 531 on the website and the Play store.

So in case if you don’t have the calling feature in WhatsApp on your Android phone, don’t worry too much about it. You are not exactly missing out on the feature. And once Version 531 of the app comes back, chances are it will be an improved version and will offer more polished calling experience compared to what users are getting currently.
