CHENNAI: Now WhatsApp released it’s version 4.0.0, with Whatsapp voice calling feature. WhatsApp calling feature is now rolling out to Android users. The users need to update their WhatsApp to the latest version.
To make the call using WhatsApp, both the users should be updated with the latest modified version WhatsApp 4.0.0 version. When the user who updated to new version of WhatsApp tries to call to other user with older version of the app, the message tell the first user that the app needs to be updated.
Enabling it is extremely easy. You have to get the latest version from the Whatsapp site. The best way to go about it is to access the site from your mobile (www.whatsapp.com). When you click the download option the Whatsapp site will recognise that you are accessing it from an Android phone and will take you to the download page. When you click on ‘download’, an .apk file will be downloaded (the version you need is 2.11.552 or above).
You can also download the .apk file in the computer (http://www.whatsapp.com/android/current/WhatsApp.apk) and side load it in the mobile.
There is no need to uninstall or delete the existing Whatsapp app. Go to your file manager and click on the .apk file. For installing .apk files, you must have enabled ‘allow installation of apps from unknown sources’ in the security settings.
That was the easy part. What is difficult is you need someone with the feature enabled to call you on Whatsapp. Once you receive the Whatsapp call, restart the app. You will now have three tabs on top that say Calls, Chats and Contacts. You can start making Whatsapp calls to those who have this feature enabled.
