LONDON: It is in the air that WhatsApp is going to introduce video calling. Introducing video calling features on the text messaging platform is not easy because it requires a lot of back-end stuff to be handled. But, the good news is that WhatsApp is not alone in this competitive market. They have one of the biggest companies, Facebook, supporting them. The video calling feature was recently launched on the Facebook Messenger, and it now allows users to easily make calls and see the people with whom they are talking.

The rumor also confirms that when video calling is launched, which might take place in a month or so, it will first be introduced in Android and not other platforms. They will eventually bring the updated feature to iOS, Windows Phone and other platforms. The voice calling feature was first launched in phases on Android. Users could get it only through an invitation from others who were already in the beta channel.

A similar approach is expected to be used for the upcoming video calling feature as well. It will be rolled out in different phases to Android users, before a complete rollout takes place. After the feature is stable, it will be introduced to Windows Phone, iOS and even Blackberry.

Voice Calling for Windows Phone

It is surprising news that WhatsApp is focusing on every other platform and not just iOS. After bringing it to Android, they rolled it out on iOS as well as the Blackberry OS. News confirms that the voice calling feature is now coming to Windows Phone real soon. It could be launched as early as next week.

To make sure that you get all the newest features, make sure to keep WhatsApp updated to the latest version. Only when the updates are there, you can enjoy stuff like voice calling, video calling and more. The app has also been changed to match the new material design on Android 5.0 Lollipop. On other platforms, the user interface remains the same, without any major changes.

WhatsApp is getting better while Facebook Messenger is focusing on an all new market. Apps like Viber and Skype now face increased competition like never before, which they can cope up with only by giving more for their users than their competitors.
