Online publication Android Police received a tip from a member of the WhatsApp translation group about new the presence of new options in the app that suggest that WhatsApp will soon get the option to backup and restore chat history from Google Drive.

According to the screenshots received by the website, the upcoming backup features would include options to backup chat history to Google Drive, restore history from Drive and choose between the ability to backup over Wi-Fi and cellular networks. The translation strings also indicate that the app will display the ‘last Google Drive backup’ timestamp and that videos received via WhatsApp chats would not be saved in Google Drive.
