Wheat procurement drive to start from 20th

FAISALABAD: The Food Department has announced to start wheat procurement drive from April 20.

A spokesman of the Food Department said here on Sunday that 4 million metric ton wheat will be purchased from growers of the Punjab including 504,000 ton from Faisalabad division, 746,000 ton from Bahawalpur, 673,000 ton from Multan, 485,000 ton from Sahiwal, 474,000 ton from Dera Ghazi Khan, 432,000 ton from Gujranwala, 342,000 ton from Sargodha, 339,000 ton from Lahore and 5,000 metric ton wheat from Rawalpindi division.

Meanwhile, the Food Department has set up 37 wheat procurement centres across the Faisalabad division to kick off wheat procurement drive.

A spokesman of the department said the wheat procurement drive would start from April 20 and for this purpose 37 wheat procurement centers had been set up across the division including 11 centers at district Faisalabad, 15 centres at Jhang, 6 centres at Toba Tek Singh and 5 centres at district Chiniot.

As many as 140,000 metric tons wheat would be purchased from district Faisalabad, 197,000 ton from Jhang, 109,000 ton from Toba Tek Singh and 58,000 metric ton wheat from district Chiniot, he added.
