Wheat procurement to start from April 15

LAHORE: Punjab Food Secretary Dr Pervaiz Ahmed Khan said that wheat procurement process in the province will start from April 15.

Pervaiz stated this while presiding over a meeting of office bearers of different farmer organizations here Saturday.

He said that all arrangements have been finalized for procuring 4 million metric tonnes of wheat at the rate of Rs 1300 per 40 kg as per the wheat procurement policy 2015-16.

He further said directions have been also issued to Food department, Agriculture department, banks and other relevant departments to extend full cooperation to the wheat growers.

He said that department would try its best that farmers might not face any difficulty in bringing their commodity to sale points and in getting gunny bags.

He said that complaints of the farmers during wheat procurement process would be redressed on urgent basis.
