TOKYO: Damien Monnier introduces the fact gathering element of the hunt. Know thy enemy, essentially. Using hearsay and books, the player should equip himself with the knowledge to succeed.
Such knowledge plays out with weaponary, where a steel sword works best for human enemies, while a silver sword is preferred for monsters. Jamie Bury, lead animator, talks us throw some more points, such as using the crossbow for flying foes and underwater battles.
Harpies, for instance, require an air spell to ground them, before some swift sword work to finish the job. Next up is the Drowners, swamp-based monsters who are dealt with using a flame spell. A werewolf is easier to tackle with a silver bomb and different oils can make weapons more effective.
A well informed hunter who reads the lore and pays attention to signs on the landscape will be better prepared to deal with what awaits.
The dev diary finishes with the reminder that all of the player’s choices have a real effect in the greater world of the game.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released on May 19 2015 for Play station 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.
