MULTAN: Chairman Multan Dry Port Trust (MDPT) Khawaja Faazil has hailed the Punjab government for withdrawing 0.9 per cent tax on entry of containers carrying business goods into the province, saying it would bring back business to MDPT.
While talking to the media, he said that businessmen had been victim of double taxation for considerable period due to which business activity at Multan dry port had reduced to only 20 containers from 400 containers per month. He explained that after clearance from Karachi port, businessmen had to pay tax first to the Sindh government and then to the Punjab government at the rate of 0.9 per cent of the total value of the business consignments.
