Women gold smugglers to be produced before customs court today

LAHORE: Two female gold smugglers who were arrested from Multan airport during a bid to smuggle 14 kilograms of gold and foreign currency to Dubai will be produced before Special Customs Court on Friday (today).

Deputy Collector Customs Airport Moeed Kanju told Customs Today that Customs authorities had registered a case against the women smugglers.

Meanwhile, Collector Customs Multan Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich, while addressing a news conference, said that Haleema Riaz who is a resident of Lahore and Sumaira wife of Asif resident of Multan were checked by Airport Security Force (ASF) ASI Saima. Both were found wearing heavy gold jewellery, including 42 heavy bangles traditionally called ‘kara’ and chains. Further investigations are still in progress.
