He said that the project to cost Rs 56 billion and will be built on Build-Operate-Transfer basis and it would be completed in about 39 months time.

The proposed motorway project would help link remote areas with big cities and reduce the distance between Sialkot and Lahore. The mega project would not only ensure fast inter-city travel but also provide economic boom as well as create employment opportunities in the region, he said.

He added that Nawaz Sharif has approved the 90km project, saying the region’s remote and rural areas would be connected to the motorway. He said that it would be constructed on Build-Operate and Own (BOT) system with total estimate cost of Rs45 billion.

He disclosed that the Motorway would start from Sahowala-Sambrial and will end at Kala Shah Kaku via Daska, Gujranwala and Kamonki. He said the project has a great commercial viability, which would be expanded to Kharian from Sambrial in the second phase. He said that it would be the busiest road in the country following the growing flow of traffic in the region.
