Working at Customs House, RTOs slow due to delay in transfers/postings

KARACHI: As the Eidul Fitr holidays are approaching, the worries of importers are increasing due to slow pace of working witnessed at the Customs House and the Regional Tax Offices in Karachi.

The transfers and postings, which were expected to be done, have also been reportedly delayed which had added more woes to the sufferings of the importers.

It seems, that the officers are not taking much interest as they are waiting for their transfers and postings to start their job afresh in their new departments while the files are piling up and the decisions are being delayed due to the pending work.

However, sources close to the authorities were confident that soon transfers and postings would be made but were unable to tell when this soon would come. Whether, before or after the Eidul Fitr holiday commented an importer.
