LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has asked the World Bank to continue to support Punjab government for the development of social sector.
A delegation, led by World Bank Country Director Patchamutha Illango, called on the chief minister. Both the sides agreed to promote cooperation between World Bank and Punjab government in education, health, agriculture, irrigation and other sectors.
Talking to the delegation, Shehbaz Sharif said that the programs with the cooperation of World Bank for the uplift of social sectors of Punjab are running successfully. He said that Punjab government has introduced basic reforms in education, health and other social sectors. He said that special attention is being paid to the provision of best services to the masses.
Shahbaz said that work is continuing speedily on various projects for overcoming shortage of energy. He said that thousands of megawatts of electricity will be generated with the completion of energy projects by the end of 2017 and growth rate will increase with the removal of energy shortage.
