World Bank Country Director hails performance of FBR

ISLAMABAD: Country Director World Bank Patchamuthu Illangovan calls on Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Nisar Mohammad in FBR headquarters.

Sources told Customs Today that during the meeting both officials discussed matters related to tax reforms, percentage of revenue, and tax collection. Chairman FBR apprised country director World Bank about different strategies to enhance tax collection in the country. He told country director that FBR is taking all possible measures to enhance tax generation and bring more people under tax net.

He also informed country director of World Bank that FBR formed two task force which are preparing long term tax policy. He said we are strictly implementing tax laws in our society. He also apprised World Bank officials about progress on Voluntarily Tax Compliance Scheme.

He said that FBR will take strict action against those who will not take benefits from VTCS. He said that FBR is going to upgrade its technology. World Bank country director hailed the performance of FBR and said that FBR is working on right direction and he is hopeful that Pakistan will soon get rid of budget deficit.
