World Bank top official lauds govt’s policies to revive economy

ISLAMABAD: The World Bank’s top official in Pakistan has lauded the government’s policies and Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s efforts in boosting economy and introducing reforms.

Rachid Benmessoud, the World Bank’s Country Director, said this, while paying a farewell call on Ishaq Dar. The finance minister shared with Rachid Benmessoud plans for bilateral meetings with the top US leadership as well as his participation in the annual meeting of World Bank and IMF.

Dar and the World Bank country director had discussion on various sectors in which World Bank had assisted Pakistan. Benmessoud lauded finance minister’s keen interest in economic reforms and said these had markedly improved Pakistan’s credit rating and increased funding by development partners.

The minister appreciated Benmessoud’s active role in promoting World Bank’s assistance for development projects in Pakistan. He said services of Rachid Benmessoud for facilitating World Bank funding for economic development in Pakistan would always be remembered. He wished Benmessoud all successes in his future assignments.

The country director of World Bank said he was grateful for the cooperation he received in undertaking his assignment in Pakistan. “Even when I leave to take up my new assignment, I would love to do anything I can for the welfare of Pakistan”, Rachid Benmessoud remarked.
