World Taekwondo Club Bharia Town Phase-8 got first position in Jashn-e-Azadi Taekwondo Championship

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry organized the first ICCI Jashn-e-Azadi Taekwondo Championship as a part of Independence Day celebrations. National Taekwondo Club, Islamabad Sunny Taekwondo Club, World Taekwondo Club Bharia Town Phase-5, World Taekwondo Club Bharia Town Phase-8 and Taekwondo Club DHA-II participated in the Championship. Total 130 kids took part in the competitions. World Taekwondo Club Bharia Town Phase-8 got the first position while World Taekwondo Club Bharia Town Phase-5 goy second and Taekwondo Club DHA-II got third position in the Championship. In individual fights from boys, Abdul Noor, Muhammad Umar and Abdul Jami emerged as best fighters while from girls, Haya Ali and Noor Rehman were the best fighters.

Shahbaz Ali was the Chief Organizer of the Championship while Ch. Zahid Rafique, Malik Najeeb Elahi, Bahadur Khan, Agha Ehtesham, Faizan Shahzad, Asher Hafeez, Usman Sarwar Alvi and Shabbir Meo sponsored the event. Former Senator and PTI leader Syed Zafar Ali Shah was the Chief Guest and he distributed medals and certificates among the winners.

Speaking at the occasion, Syed Zafar Ali Shah said that youth was the future of Pakistan as they have great talent and if properly guided and coached, they could excel in every field including sports. He said that the newly elected leadership was quite eager to promote sports and youngsters should strive to lead Pakistan in international sports events including Taekwondo. He said that youth should focus on study and also take active part in sports so that they could contribute to building a healthy society.

Addressing the concluding ceremony of the Taekwondo Championship, Sheikh Amir Waheed, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that apart from focusing on promoting business activities, ICCI was also working for promoting sports activities. He said Chamber has constituted a Sports Committee that works to promote various sports so that business community and their kids could participate in healthy activities. He assured that ICCI would continue to promote various sports including taekwondo, cricket and others to build a healthy society. He thanked the Chief Guest and sponsors for cooperating with ICCI in organizing the Taekwondo Championship successfully.

Muhammad Naveed Malik Senior Vice President, Nisar Mirza Vice President ICCI, Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry Chairman ICCI Sports Committee also spoke at the occasion and reaffirmed that ICCI would continue to holding Taekwondo Championship in future as well to give exposure to the kids to show their skills in Taekwondo. They also thanked the kids and their parents for their active participation in the event. In the end, medals and certificates were distributed among the winners.
