Xiaomi announces Rs 2,000 price cut for Xiaomi Mi 4, decides to make it permanent in India

NEW DELHI: Xiaomi has declared a price cut for its Mi 4 smartphone. The company which recently announced Rs 2,000 price cut as part of its Mi Fan Festival in the country has decided to make it permanent.

In a statement, the company announced, “I India offered a special price for Mi 4 during Mi Fan Festival, and it was very well received. We have thus decided to make this price drop permanent.”

Post the price cut, Mi 4 16GB will now be available for Rs 17,999 (down from Rs 19,999), while its 64GB model can be purchased at Rs 21,999 (down from Rs 23,999).

Successor to the Xiaomi Mi 3, the phone features a stainless steel metal frame and a 5-inch full HD display made by Sharp or JDI. It also has changeable plastic back covers.

Xiaomi Mi 4 is powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and 3GB RAM. It will be available in 16GB and 64 GB storage variants. The phone runs MIUI 6, a new version of the company’s operating system, based on Android 4.4 KitKat.

The phone sports a 13MP rear and 8MP front Sony stacked CMOS camera and a 3080mAh battery. According to Xiaomi, the battery lasts one and a half day with normal usage and will offer quick charging, reaching 60% charge in an hour’s time.

The Mi 4 is available on Flipkart and The Mobile Store for now, and will be available on Snapdeal and Amazon India soon.
