MUMBAI: Xiaomi has launched MIUI 4.4.4 update for Redmi Note 4G in India.
Now, if you’re assuming that the MIUI 6 update for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G will bump the smartphone to Android 5.0 Lollipop, you’re in for some serious disappointment. Instead, you’ll be getting a small update from version 4.4.2 to 4.4.4.
On the upside, the new firmware does offer many alternatives to what the latest Google mobile OS packs. They include better security and improved notifications (heads up alerts) amongst others. The MIUI 6 update is tagged as version 6.3.5 and weighs in at around 577MB. The OS is being seeded over the air and you’ll be automatically notified of its availability.
If not, you can manually search to see if it’s out for your handsets through the Updater application or via the Settings menu in the About phone tag. Xiaomi is also offering a manual download through its website and a guide on how to flash it from the phablet itself. The Redmi 1S and dual SIM Redmi Note 3G will be treated to the new UI towards the end of month.
