BEJING: Xiaomi Mi 4 (16GB) has once again received a price cut. Now the 16GB version of Mi 4 now costs Rs 14,999. One of the primary reasons for the consecutive price cut of Mi 4 is due to the fact that it has been available in the market for nearly a year. The Mi 4 was first introduced in China last year.

“We have corrected the price of Mi 4 in India from time to time due to the drop in its component prices,” said Xiaomi India head Manu Jain in an event in New Delhi to celebrate the global sale of 10 million Mi 4 units within ten months.

While many Smartphone enthusiasts feel that Indian consumers at large might not be ready to buy a Xiaomi Smartphone for Rs 20,000 or above, thus, the brand had to crawl back to its comfort pricing zone with the Mi 4. However, it is quite possible that Xiaomi might be making way for the upcoming Mi 5.

On the other hand, Xiaomi also launched its India exclusive flagship Mi 4i Smartphone in April at Rs 12,999. The Mi 4i undoubtedly is a good device to buy under Rs 15,000. However, with the latest price cut of Mi 4, Xiaomi now has two good devices in price range between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000. Display: Both the Smartphones offer a 5-inch Full HD screen. Armed with sunlight display, both are equally good. Design: The choice is in between metal and plastic. The Mi 4 has an attractive metal frame; however, the Mi 4i is more compact. Performance: On paper, the Mi 4i has more cores to boast. However, the performance of both the Smartphones are good. Camera: While the image quality of both is equivalent, the Mi 4i offers a better deal with dual tone LED Flash. Storage: Both Mi 4 and Mi 4i offer around 12GB of internal storage space and don’t come with microSD card slot. Connectivity: The Mi 4i supports 4G in both the SIM card slots while the Mi 4 is single SIM 3G Smartphone. So, if you are looking to upgrade to 4G soon, then opt for the cheaper Mi 4i. Under Rs 15,000, the Mi 4i overshadows the Mi 4 16GB and offers a better deal at a cheaper price but customers will have to wait to buy the Mi 4i while the Mi 4 is easily available.
